Liverpool
What’s offbeat about Liverpool?
It’s no secret Liverpool is home to the Beatles and one of the best football clubs in the world, but it offers far more than sport and culture. Like much of the UK it’s steeped in history, and Liverpool was once a sea trading hub. Liverpool is not short of city buzz but if you’d like to enjoy a sunny summery day by the water, Kaplan’s social program will take you to the New Brighton lighthouse. A historic Napoleonic era Fort built in 1683 allowed ships to pass safely. No longer used, it’s situated between the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay, and when low tide comes in, it’s a spectacular sight to go up close to take pictures, it’s especially beautiful at sunset.

New York
What you didn’t know about New York
There is a lot you know about New York – and that’s a huge appeal of why so many people go. But New York is a city full of treasures waiting to be explored. Life on Manhattan Island is fast-paced and jam-packed with all kinds of things to do. Why not head over the water to Brooklyn where you can soak up the buzz and the views.
Shun the inner-city Central Park for the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Six old piers have been transformed into a community space where you can enjoy parks, salt marshes, a mini beach and volleyball court, restaurants, an active recreation center or a walk-in kaleidoscope. London
Why London is the best city in summer
London is built around the River Thames. With major iconic sights dotted along the water, you cannot visit London without a walk along the river. Spot sights such as Westminster Palace, London Bridge and St. Paul’s Cathedal or head inland to Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and the theater district of the West End.
The Millennium Bridge is build on the doorstep of the Tate Modern museum on the South side of the river and takes pedestrians right across to the foot of St Paul’s Cathedral, situated close to the banking district known as the City. You may be a beach or nature person but London is one of the best places to visit in the summer. With so much to explore, it’s easy to see it all by foot, and with an interesting coffee shop, boutique cafe or famous store right around each corner, there is plenty of time to rest in between your adventures.
