Royal Albert Hall Named London’s Best Live Music Venue

The Royal Albert Hall is London’s most popular live music venue, according to a survey of the capital’s international students.

Research by Kaplan International English, a leading provider of English language courses, revealed that the Royal Albert Hall, opened by Queen Victoria in 1871, is London’s favorite ahead of the more modern The O2 and Wembley Arena.

Kaplan surveyed 535 students from its language schools in Covent Garden and Leicester Square to discover what they love about London.

London’s top five live music venues:

  • Royal Albert Hall: (31%)
  • The O2: (30%)
  • Wembley Arena: (12%)
  • Koko: (7%)
  • Village Underground: (4%)

Mehdi Aoustin-Sellami, Head of Programming at the Royal Albert Hall, said: “We are delighted that the Royal Albert Hall has been voted international students’ favourite London music venue. We are proud to provide an extremely diverse programme of events across the auditorium and our other performance spaces, from world-famous artists to up-and-coming bands, opera, ballet, comedy, sport and Cirque du Soleil.

“We are also presenting an increasing number of foreign-language events, including music concerts and stand-up comedy. This commitment to variety and quality, coupled with the Hall’s strong sense of history and rich atmosphere, makes it a truly unique venue – and one with something for everyone.”
