Life @ Kaplan: Instagramming New York
Every week, we award a prize for the best #KaplanExperience photo on Instagram.
Last week, Francesca Gasparini from Italy, won the prize for her stunning photo of New York City, where she is currently preparing for the TOEFL exam.
We caught up with her to find out the inspiration behind her photos, why she chose to study at KIC New York and what happened when she met our friend Ido Simyoni!
Why did you want to study English?
I decided to study English because I believe it’s the most important language in the world now if you want to find a job. All the best schools require a very good level of English.
What made you decide to come to New York out of all of the Kaplan destinations?
I choose New York Midtown as my destination because I love this city and everything about it; from the people to the nightlife. It's my second time here in NY, and every day that I'm here I love it more and more. It’s my dream to move here one day!
Describe your typical day in New York.
I don't know how to describe my typical routine because every day is different. When I first arrived I had morning classes, so after studying I would walk around the city to find something new and start an awesome adventure! At the moment I have afternoon classes, so I wake up late and I don’t see as much of New York in the daytime!
What has been the most interesting thing you’ve taken a photo of?
My most interesting photos are of the skyline, because it's really spectacular. For me, the skyline in New York is completely different from any other city - it’s the best in the world. I also like to take photos of all the different people because there are so many interesting characters here and I don't want to forget them.
What’s your favorite thing about New York?
My favorite thing about New York is that you never can be sure what can happen. As I said before, there is always something new to do, or to discover. In short, it’s impossible to ever be bored here.
Instagram celebrity Ido Simyoni is in New York right now and giving photography lessons to Kaplan students. What did you learn from him?
Ido showed me how to capture amazing photos using different apps for my phone. It was such an interesting class, I'm really glad I got the chance to meet him!
Which photograph reminds you the most of your time with Kaplan?
I think my favorite photo is the one I sent for the #KaplanExperience competition, the one with the Empire State Building and the sunglasses, because it invites you to see everything from your own point of view.
How would you describe your Kaplan Experience?
For now I can describe my experience here at Kaplan as absolutely amazing! I'm having fun and also my English is really improving!
